Mas Terrats above all, is story of family. Laced with emotions. A tapestry of dreams, hopes and a story of overcoming the odds. It’s my father’s dream come true.
I remember, from such a young age, seeing the drawings and plans, for a home. Surrounded by fields and forests… A dream which in 1997, having acquired the property in a state of ruins, came true; only to evolve into a story of overcoming the odds when met by ill-health. With a will to live. That’s why, for us, his family, Mas Terrats is, above all, a feeling.
He admired painters and artists in general; however we always said he had a lot more luck than them. You could say that that his canvas was infinitely better that those of any artist. It wasn’t a piece of cloth. It was a piece of sky and land in the middle of the Emporda! Believe me when I tell you that when he finished his “work” (the restoration of Mas Terrats) it greatly resembled those sketches that have been drawn many times years ago… And so Mas Terrats was born, thanks to a dream and a vision. But it’s grown thanks to the people who have come in search of freedom. The type of freedom that you only find at home, behind closed doors. That allows us to be ourselves. This, of course, was the starting point. That everyone who would come to Mas Terrats, whether family, friends, business or otherwise, would have found a place where they could “close” the door behind them. This is what drives and motivates us. And when we say we want you to feel at home, this is what we mean. If we succeed in making you feel at home, we are happy.
If you want to get to know Mas Terrats, you can always ask around, or visit the webpage or any of our social networks. But if you really want to get to know the TRUE Mas Terrats, I invite you to come and visit. The magic, the calm and positive energy in this place can not be explained or written. I think that you can only understand it when you’re here. Come and walk through the space and explore the history, we can stop and chat along the way, and I can try to explain everything about Mas Terrats to you. It’s said sometimes that nature heals… I don’t know if it’s true. But i can assure you that for me, the magic of this environments, with its light, its skies, its forests, field gardens… has helped me a lot. I feel very privileged.
Today my father is no longer with us. And the responsibility of sharing his pride of home, his philosophy and his dream has become mine. Would you like to come and visit a piece of heaven on earth? You always have a house in Emporda and it’s waiting for you.
Rosa Casellas.
