The Empord\u00e0 is a land of contrasts. Between the Mediterranean seascapes and the inland lands at the foot of the Pyrenees. Many compare the area with Italian Tuscany, which is complemented by a diversity of villages that have been able to keep their charms over time. All of them within walking distance of Mas Terrats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The labyrinthine alleys of white houses characteristic of this small town transpire art and surrealism. The same thing that inspired Salvador Dal\u00ed. The village is surrounded by rocky massifs and by rocky beaches. Cadaqu\u00e9s has a special charm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For many it is the Catalan Carcassonne. Peratallada is one of the most important centers of medieval architecture in Catalonia. Located in the municipality of Forallac, in the Baix Empord\u00e0, it was declared a Historic-Artistic and Cultural Asset of National Interest because it still retains its old feudal appearance, the walls, towers and castles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This seaside town has been able to retain its charm before the tourist boom. It still has the structure of an old fishing village with white houses, narrow alleys by the sea and beautiful coves. You can also visit the impressive gardens of Cap Roig Castle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
-3- CALELLA DE PALAFRUGELL<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\nCalella de Palafrugell<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
A small town to visit if you like art and especially Salvador Dal\u00ed. There is the castle built in the 11th century that Dal\u00ed gave to Gala. It is a small town, with narrow streets, portal entrances and remains of the wall, preserving the medieval essence of the Empord\u00e0. It is also worthwhile to take a walk through the small, surprising Pera town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entering the streets of this town is like traveling back in time to the thirteenth century. Monells are medieval air houses, arches, alleys and the famous Pla\u00e7a Sant Jaume I. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
-5- MONELLS<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
This village has grown at the foot of the Begur Massif, and is fortunate to have one of the coves with the highest foothills on the Girona coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The castle, former residence of the viscounts of Rocabert\u00ed and counts of Peralada, is one of the best preserved jewels in the Empord\u00e0. The village also has a special charm because of the wine tradition. It was the capital of the county when Figueres was only a village with few farmhouses. To the extent that he had his own army. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The municipality of Palau-Sator consists of the small villages of Palau-Sator, Fontclara, Sant Juli\u00e0 de Boada, Sant Feliu de Boada and the neighborhood of Pantaleu. The walled enclosure is a wonderful example of the layout of an old medieval town. To access it you have to go through the so-called Torre de las Hores. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
